LPC, I haven't seen lutefisk, but in a incident of which I am still ashamed, I spit out a mouthful of bacalao, which is the Portuguese version of lutefisk. I was in a Lisbon restaurant, we were seated family style (so there were even more witnesses) and my friend and I had to try the local specialty, the bacalao. I put a bite into my mouth and it felt like slimy jello. It was so disgusting that I automatically ejected it from my mouth.
I am still mortified that I did that in front of people. So rude!
But I have avoided any form of salt cod ever since.
