Why should they waste their effort climbing an plain tree? Mine always waited 'til all the work was done. Especially the lights...they loved to snuggle up next to the lights.
Seldom had any problems with that. Except, that is, for the year we put up tinsel and Hobbes had to play with it....
Jen, not a heated toilet seat because we realized that we would have to run the cord halfway around the bathroom to get to the one outlet that is next to the sink on the other side of the toilet, but a wooden one that does not transmit cold as well as porcelain.
We are waiting to decorate until we know if the cats plan to climb the tree. Of course, they are probably waiting until we decorate to climb.

I'm sure the cats have already climbed the tree several times by now.
My cat? Killed several ornaments and has downed three of our smaller trees already.
I suspect all those ornaments are torture for her really....
